This is the last Will and Testament | of me Ambrose Brooker of the Parish of Horley in the County of Surry | ffarmer ?touching? such worldly Estate which it hath pleased almighty | God of his great goodness to bestow upon me in this life I do will and | bequeath the same in manner and form following that is to say first I | give my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it beseeching | his most gracious acceptance of it through the all sufficient merits | and mediation of my most compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ | and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the | discretion and direction of my Wife Sarah Brooker who I doubt not | but will manage the same with all care and prudence and as to my | Worldly property I do give and bequeath all my live and dead Stock | ffarming Implements Household ffurniture Linen and Plate Corn Hay and Manure and in a word all property/ of what kind soever that I may | be possessed off at my death unto Sarah Brooker my beloved Wife | for and during the full term of her natural life and it is my request | for Ambrose my eldest Son to continue in the ffarms to assist his Mother | in the management of the same and also for my other Sons so long | as it shall seem meet and acceptable to my Wife and at the | approbation of my eldest Son Ambrose such property as aforesaid to be subject to the payment of my just debts and ffuneral expenses and after the death of my said Wife Sarah Brooker I will and | bequeath unto Ambrose Brooker my eldest Son to the amount of twelve pounds a year from the time of my death/ until that | of his Mother the sd Sarah Brooker and provided either of my | other Sons resides at any time at home with their Mother | after my death my Will is form their Mother the said Sarah Brooker | to allow them such wages as a compensation form their time as she | may think proper also at my Wife’s decease I do give and bequeath | unto ffrusanna Wife of Edward King the sum of one hundred pounds | also to Ann Brooker my Daughter the sum of one hundred pounds | also unto Sarah the Wife of James Holliday the sum of one shilling | on being duly demanded within twelve Calendar Months after my | said Wife’s decease Also unto Mary the Wife of James Prior Brazier the | sum of one shilling on being duly demanded within twelve Calendar | months after my said Wife’s decease also unto Harriet Brooker my | Daughter the sum of one hundred pounds also unto Eliza | Brooker my Daughter the sum of one hundred pounds all and every | part of the aforesaid legacies to be paid within twelve Calendar months | after my said Wife’s decease hen all the Residue and remainder | of my property that my Wife may be possessed of at the time of her | decease I do will and bequeath to be fairly divided into five equal/ parts | and the fifth part of the said property I do give and bequeath unto Thomas | Brooker my Son and the remaining four parts of the said property I do | give and bequeath unto Ambrose Brooker Jonathan Brooker and | James Brooker my other three Sons to be equally divided between | them share and share alike/ and if either of my Sons or Daughters shall | die before their Mother the said Sarah Brooker and leave any | lawful issue then such issue to have such part of the said property | equally divided between them as I have in this my Will bequeathed | to such deceased Son or Daughter but if they die and leave no widow | or lawful issue then such part of my property aforesaid to revert back and | equally divided between all my aforesaid Sons and Daughters then living | share and share alike and I do constitute and appoint my Sons Ambrose | Brooker and Jonathan Brooker Executors to this my last Will and | Testament and trustees to their Mother the said Sarah Brooker and I do | hereby utterly revoke disallow and disannul all former Wills by me | heretofore in anywise left or made declaring ratifying and confirming | this and no other to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof | I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twentieth day of April | in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty | [sgd] Ambrose Brooker (SS) Signed Sealed published pronounced and declared | by the said Testator Ambrose Brooker that this and the foregoing sheet | contains his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his | presence and at his request and in the presence of each other have | hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses - [sgd] James Harding Salford - | Joseph Peters his mark – Thomas Bray Horley |
