The joint and several Answer of Susannah Attridge, John Carter and Sophia his Wife, Susannah Harridge Carter four/ of the Defendants to the Bill of Complaint of William D’Aranda and Elizabeth his Wife and Susannah Harridge Eliza Harridge Thomas | Harridge, Mary Harridge, Henry Harridge Carter, James Caldwell Carter, Emma Carter, Mary Carter Crispe Harridge Carter, John Carter, Eliza Charlotte Carter, | William Bacon Carter, Alleyne David Carter, Charlotte Kennett, Sophia Kennett, Harrietta Kennett, Thomas Henry Kennett, Richard Kennett Mary Ann Kennett | John Carter Kennett Matilda Kennett, Robert Kennett, Arthur Stanes Kennett, Theresa Ford, Sophia Ford, Emma Ford, Harriott Ford, Frederick Ford, Mary Ann Ford | William D’Aranda Ford and Susannah Ford all Infants by the said William D’Aranda their Uncle and next Friend Complainants. |

These Defendants now and all times hereafter reserving to themselves and each of them all benefit and advantage of Exception to the said Bill of Complaint for answer thereunto or unto as much thereof | as these Defendants are advised it is material or necessary for them or any of them to make answer unto they these Defendants severally answering say they believe it to be true that Thomas Harridge | the Testator in the said Bill named was at the time of making his Will and of his death seized in fee simple of divers freehold Estates of considerable value and that he was at the time of his death | possessed of a considerable personal Estate and particularly of the sum of nine thousand four hundred and fifty pounds new four pounds per cent Bank annuities in the said Bill mentioned and that the said | Testator when of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly made and published his last Will and testament in writing of such date and to such purport and effect as in the said Bill in | that behalf mentioned and that the same was so attested as by law is required for devising freehold Estates And these Defendants believe it to be true that the said Testator made and signed a Codicil to his | said Will of such date and to such purport or effect as in the said Bill in that behalf mentioned And that the said Testator departed this life at or about the time in the said Bill in that behalf mentioned | without having altered his said Will except so far as the same is affected by the said Codicil and without having revoked or altered his said Codicil and that he left David Harridge one of the Defendants | in the said Bill named his Eldest Son and heir at law and that he also left such other persons as in the said Bill in that behalf named him surviving And that Sir John Head Samuel Hunt Russell and/ Samuel | Clayton three others of the Defendants in the said Bill named duly proved the said Will and in the proper Ecclesiastical Court and took upon themselves the execution thereof and possessed themselves of the | personal Estate and Effects of the said Testator to a large amount and entered into possession of his real Estates and that they or some or one of them have or hath received the rents and profits of his said | real Estates to a large amount And these Defendants further severally say they have been informed and believe it to be true that the said Sir John Head Samuel Hunt Russell and Samuel Clayton have | since the death of the said Testator caused his said real Estates or some part thereof to be sold and have or hath received the purchase monies arising from such sale to a large amount And these Defendants | severally deny that they ever refused to join in this suit and they humbly submit their several rights and interests to the protection of this honorable Court And these Defendants severally deny all and all | manner of unlawful combination and confederacy wherewith they are charged without this that there is any other matter cause or thing in the complainants said Bill of Complaint contained material or | effectual in the law for these Defendants to make answer unto and not herein or hereby well and sufficiently answered avoided traversed or denied is true to the knowledge and belief of these Defendants All | which matters and things these Defendants are ready and willing to aver maintain and prove as this Honorable Court shall direct and humbly pray to be hence dismissed with their reasonable costs and | charges in the law in this behalf most wrongfully sustained.
